Expanded Learning Opportunity Programs (ELOP)

Castro Valley Unified School District is pleased to announce expanded learning opportunities to all TK-8th grade students.  Fee waivers are available for eligible students in grades TK-6.

Currently, the Expanded Learning Opportunity Program in CVUSD is provided through a partnership with PlayCV (Programs Learning and Activities for Youth in Castro Valley). Academic support, enrichment and connections for students beyond the regular school day are the primary goals of the Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs in CVUSD. “Expanded learning” means after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences.

PlayCV will be at ALL nine elementary school sites as well as both middle schools.  A healthy snack, education, literacy, and enrichment elements are all part of the program.

The Full PLAY / The Club program is offered at every Castro Valley elementary and middle school, five days a week during the school year. It begins at the final school bell and includes a standard pick-up window from 4:45 PM to 5:00 PM, with an extended care option available until 6:00 PM. On minimum days, the program starts earlier, but pick-up times remain the same. The program does not operate on holidays or staff development days unless noted in advance.

To enroll, visit Enroll PlayCV.  For additional information about PlayCV ELOP programs (The FULL P.L.A.Y.), visit PlayCV.

Fee waivers are available for eligible students in grades TK-6.

Fee is waived for students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals, are experiencing housing instability, or are foster youth. Complete an application here. Currently enrolled students may apply for the current 2025/2026 school year.  If you are having issues with your application, please send an email to: childnutrition@cv.k12.ca.us and aglodde@cv.k12.ca.us
