Superintendent’s Message

Dear Castro Valley Unified School District Community,

I am honored and thrilled to serve as the new Superintendent of Castro Valley Unified School District. As we begin the 2025–26 school year, I extend a warm welcome to our students, families, staff, and community partners. Having served in CVUSD for the past seven years as Director and Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, I am committed to our shared vision and feel deeply connected to this community. I look forward to embarking on this new chapter together—a journey filled with hope, collaboration, and boundless opportunity.

With over 30 years in public education—as a teacher, principal, director, assistant and associate superintendent —I’ve had the privilege of working alongside remarkable students, families, and staff to build schools that center equity, excellence, and the joy of learning. I bring that same passion, commitment, and heart to this new role in Castro Valley.

CVUSD’s Strategic Directions inspire me daily. Our collective vision—to nurture compassionate, critical thinkers who thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world—aligns perfectly with what I believe public education must be: a place where all students are seen, celebrated, and supported to reach their highest potential.

As a district, we are committed to providing safe, inclusive, and innovative learning environments where students not only achieve academically, but also grow as empathetic and empowered individuals. This year, we will continue to center equity, elevate student voice, build strong partnerships with families, and ensure that all students—all means all—have access to the high-quality opportunities they deserve.

To our students: You are the reason we are here. We see your brilliance and promise, and we are excited to walk beside you in your journey.

To our families: You are our most important partners. Thank you for entrusting us with your children and for the many ways you support our schools.

To all staff: You are the heart of this district. Your dedication, wisdom, and care make the difference every single day.

I look forward to meeting many more of you in the weeks ahead and to continuing to work together to make this a year of deep connection, academic excellence, and joyful learning.

Here’s to an inspiring and inclusive 2025–26 school year!

With gratitude and excitement,

Dr. Nia Rashidchi
